# How to Move From Pocket to KnowMan (2026 Guide)

Pocket shut down in July 2025. Here's how to export your library and get it into KnowMan — with all your tags and reading history preserved.

## Why Pocket shut down

Mozilla acquired Pocket in 2017 and integrated it into Firefox. After years of declining investment, Mozilla announced the shutdown in mid-2025. Users had 60 days to export before the servers went offline.

If you missed the export window, your data is unfortunately gone. If you did export, your file is called `ril_export.html`.

## Step-by-step: moving your Pocket library

1. **Locate your Pocket export file** — find `ril_export.html` in your Downloads folder

4. **Upload your export file** — drag and drop `ril_export.html`
5. **Wait ~30 seconds** — KnowMan fetches content and applies AI auto-tagging

✓ Your Pocket tags (mapped to KnowMan tags)
✓ Read / unread status
✗ Highlights from within Pocket (not in the HTML export format)
